Natural sponges come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Though they are somewhat expensive, they can be used for a number of applications. Large flat ones are good for glazing, and an old one can be used for marbling and woodgraining by first tearing away bits from the edges to fringe them and make the shape irregular.
